Connect with Self

This week’s main subject is really about integrating the care of the body, mind & soul in order to create a balanced, harmonious environment for you to thrive in!

Cultivating a relationship between your selfs, your me, myself and I, as well as working on the self-beings: self love, self confidence, self motivation, self determination, etc.

For the mind, bring attention to mindfulness, mental health, gratitude practice, and keeping things light with fun learning. Here are a couple of suggestions on how to keep the mind nourished and active.

1. Research/Studying: Human history is a great starting place, I highly recommend Brittney Mejia’s, owner of Mother of Many, Intro to Kemet class. Starting with where it all began will give you a direction as well as somewhere and following what intrigues you. Research your culture, your ancestral history, your language, even as your living relatives any questions you may have regarding your family’s history. Tap in with your ancestry by meditation with the intention to connect with your previous ancestors, what they would like you to know or be aware of.

2. Taking breaks: Keep things balanced by implementing snack breaks and rest, sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the information when you get into something interesting. Also normalize taking break days, we are deserving of taking a day or two off, don’t guilt yourself for overworking a bit and needing extra TLC, you are learning πŸ™‚ Themed breaks are important as well, a relaxation/spa day can help you relax and unwind while a fun activity day, such as skating, will help you tap in with inner child and let loose.

3. Meditation: To recap, meditation is the state of being. We are in a meditative state often and sometimes don’t even realize it; during work, while driving, eating, and even for some of us, our rising routine. Bringing a little mindfulness during meditation will help you build and grow your consciousness. Remember that meditation is just a state of being, no more, no less.

4. Creative expression: This is singing, dancing, spoken work, drawing, painting, performing, however it is that you feel comfortable with letting your creative energy flow and take form in the physical, do it! Learn a new form of expression if you don’t have one or are bored with one. Your creative energy is your sexual energy and your sensual energy, allow it to flow and bring you a sense of fulfillment and release as you bring it to life!

5. Gratitude practice: We’ll dive in deeper later this week, but a practice of showing your gratitude either to yourself or the Universe is a small, but potent step. Gratitude is the highest form of energy exchange that the Universe will accept. You are capable of limitless love, light and joy; shifting your vibration with gratitude brings you closer to all that you want to attract. It’s communication with the Universe that you love what you have and are ready for more!

The body requires nutritious food, daily movement, daily sunlight, plenty of rest, and natural remedies and healing modalities.  Making sure our body has all it’s needs met is a great way to keep track of and balance within our physical vessels. You only have one vessel for this lifetime, treat it with love, care and respect.

1. Nourishment: Intuitive eating has been one of the things that really changed the way I looked at eating. Currently, we are being pushed into plant based, gluten free and dairy free eating, while that works for some people. I find that sometimes depriving our bodies of what we need is actually counter productive to what we are doing by changing diet. We change our diet because we want to feel better. Proper nutrition knowledge of what vegetables and fruits are in season in your local area is a great place to start. Tap into farmer’s markets, they need us more than ever and you’ll find better produce at better prices than at the grocery store AND you’re helping out your local economy.

2. Sleep & rest: A lot of today’s culture and mainstream media push this image of overworking, “making the most of your 24 hours” that’s extremely unrealistic and dangerous even. I’ve found in the past year that the times that I truly took a break vs me working all day, I’ve actually made more money resting than when I was working. It goes to show us that when we stop chasing, whatever we wanted eventually comes catching up to us. Keeping a balance between work and rest is vital to your energy level and deleption. If you need to rest for a week, rest for a week, but during that break, don’t even for a second, feel bad, guilt or shame for needing to rest, you deserve rest!

3. Moderation: As with everything else, moderation is important especially to the physical body. We have different limits physically, we are encouraged to stay within the limits and make the best of them. Limitations, as fustrating as they can be, are divine protection. Sometimes you have to learn things the hard way, a couple times, before you get the hang of it and that’s okay! Remember there’s no such things as mistakes, only opportunities for you to learn.

The soul is nourished through finding your life’s purpose, connecting with a higher power, expanding your consciousness, connecting with nature and exploring enlightenment and awakening.

1.  Ground, cleanse & protect: I’ve discussed this a few times, so if yall want any tips or elaborations into this, let me know below πŸ™‚

2. Meditation for self reflection: As I’ve mentioned before, meditation with intention is POWERFUL, meditation with the intention for self reflection, POWERFUL! These meditations are best for when you have sometime to just sit and dwell in the energy of what it is you need to know, I would recommend setting a timer for 15-30 minutes. Just like with normal meditation, you can always set multiple intentions or “topics of concern” that you would like to address; such as “I set the intention to self reflect on the past 3 months and to let go of what no longer serves my best and highest good.”

3.  Soul connections: As you continue on your soul’s journey, you will encounter a lot of people that will help you on your path. Some people, who love, honor and respect our energy, we call friends and those who teach us lessons, we sometimes view as ex lovers, ex friends or enemies. Remember it’s all on your perspective, each and every person that came into your life has a specific and important lesson for you to learn from. Always be open to receiving the lessons and opportunities for you to expand your awareness and consciousness with each experience.

4. Soul’s Purpose: Your soul’s purpose is to be yourself! You are the only one who can live your life, live your vision and be the best you! Your calling and life’s purpose as far as role, will come with time and in divine timing. Your passion leads you to your purpose, whatever it is that you LOVE to do, that’s most likely what your role will involve, it’s up to you to be courageous enough to act on it and take a risk on yourself πŸ™‚
